Make Your Life Happen

"Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, that is way great spiritual giants are produced." - Swami Vivekanand

We all are blessed with insights and innovation. We all are influenced by entertainment and pop-culture. We all have our moments of unconventional thinking. Then why only a few of us consider ourselves capable of making things happen?

It was a typical Thursday, I was comfortably seated in Business class eating my shrimp salad around 9 PM when the flight attendant asked if I wanted any wine. I politely declined as I was immersed in a deep conversation with a Partner from PWC who was based in California. I was flying back to Canada and we were talking about success and passion in life. Why some people make it and others don’t? The simple conclusion was working hard on smart things.

Now a smart thing is simply that thing on your TODO list which will be most beneficial. Doing that item on your list first, fast and the best will give you the maximum return. In other word’s apply Pareto’s Principle(80/20 Rule), try to figure out which 20% of the items on your list will yield 80% of the results and start working on those.

Apply the Pareto’s principle in conjunction with Parkinson’s Law and you will increase your odds of success. Parkinson’s Law states that the amount of time you allocate to any activity is the amount of time it will take you to finish that activity. If you assign 3 days then it will take you 3 days, if you assign 7 days then it will take you 7 days.

Become Disciplined, Learn to deal with negative emotions/disappointments, Apply these principles and remember Life is Long. There will always be time for Plan B. But don’t start with it. Become an action execution factory.
