Today is the Tomorrow We Worried About

Nature

I came into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethoughts of grief. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. - Wendell Berry, Peace of Wild Things

Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves - regret for the past and fear of the future. I have no regrets in my life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person. If I had my life to live over, I would perhaps have more actual troubles but I'd have fewer imaginary ones.

Drag your thoughts away from your troubles, by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it. Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday. Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy. If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep. Troubles are a lot like people - they grow bigger if you nurse them.

I keep the telephone of my mind open to peace, harmony, health, love and abundance. Then, whenever doubt, anxiety or fear try to call me, they keep getting a busy signal - and soon they'll forget my number. ~Edith Armstrong
